Angelo Bayonet Exercise 1857 New Edition

Published in July 1857 by Henry Charles Angelo, Adjudant-General's Office, and Superintendent of sword exercises in the Horse Guards. It was intended to provide a system of instruction of bayonet drill for soldiers vs a variety of opponents. Illustrated with line drawings of the postures and positions described, it gives a perfect picture of bayonet exercises and drill in the Victorian army. Leading up to the Indian Mutiny, and shortly after the Crimean War.

The rear pages contain a catalogue of military books for sale at the time

The book is rebound in gold embossed red leather with the original boards The original frontispiece has the Bookplate for the War Office Secretary of States Library.
